Collage Conversations

Collage—the practice of recombining existing photographs, visuals, and other materials into a new work—is a conversational art. When you use other artists' work as the basis for your own, you naturally sit in conversation with them—across time, across space, across mediums. Collage is also the people's art! Anyone can collage, all you need is a pair of scissors, some glue, and things to chop up (all of which will be provided for you in this inter-media workshop!) We'll start by warming up our hands and eyes and ears by making marks to music, move on to completing image fragments with color forms, and then we'll build those characters and landscapes we've created into visual poems with found text. All ages are welcome, and families are encouraged to attend.
